The Center for Neuroendocrine Lung Tumor Research

Welcome!

Save-Your-Breath.org, the Center for Neuroendocrine Lung Tumor Research, is a not-for-profit organization that takes aim at the number 1 cancer killer worldwide: lung cancer.

The Center's mission is to raise funds for, and awareness of, the fight against a rare form of lung cancer that is characterized by the development and spread of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) that make their primary showing in the lung and/or the surrounding pleura.  These tumors are sometimes called carcinoids, and occupy a spectrum of disease represented by the slow-growing and least malignant "typical" carcinoids at one end, more aggressive and more malignant "atypical" carcinoids in the middle, and the most aggressive and highly malignant small cell lung cancer (SCLC) at the opposite end.

On the following pages, we hope to introduce you to some of the ways in which the Center for Neuroendocrine Lung Tumor Research is trying to overcome the present "knowledge gap" between better-known and more often observed forms of lung cancer and lung-based NETs, and we hope you will join us in our battle, not only for knowledge, but for relief for the victims of this type of lung cancer and their families and caregivers.
